What drives Gatineau prices

Gatineau sits across the river from Ottawa on Highway 5 and Highway 50. Government and tech anchor the local economy. The market's prices track Ontario's. Because the city sits right on the provincial line, Gatineau's fuel competes directly with what Ottawa charges on the other side of the river. Carriers crossing between Quebec and the capital see two markets separated by a bridge. That border competition keeps Gatineau's pricing tied to its neighbour more than to the rest of Quebec.
